Unit 6

Greetings to all during this wonderfully busy time of year. I hope that everyone is in good health and spirits as they read these words. I quite enjoyed the universal loving kindness practice this week and feel like it will be a part of my daily activities. I loved the simplicity of the words and that there was not a whole of complicated stuff involved. I think a mini practice is something that most people can do regularly and once it is memorized, it becomes second nature. I loved what the words said. I felt like they were words from my heart because I really do want the best for everyone. I think starting the day and even ending the day with a practice like this would be great! I personally liked using the word people instead of individuals and appreciated that I could do this whenever, where-ever because it was not pre-recorded.

Integral assessment
The aspect of my life that is a source of difficulty/suffering would be the biological aspect. In this area I am weak in the fitness department and would love to have a daily regimen that I want to do! Currently I do not exercise and this is very hard for me to admit. The self regulation area is also the area of my life that is ready for growth and development. Incorporating a regular spiritual practice would be a nice addition to my life. What I can do and truly want to do is to work to do a regular yoga practice that would give me fitness and self regulation improvement by giving me fitness and spirituality at the same time. I would love to teach yoga one day because I really believe in the wonderful benefits of this activity.

Wishing all the very best
Nychelle:)

  1. Hi Nychelle,

I like to use the word "people" instead of "individuals" too for this practice. I really had a wonderful experience with this loving-kindness meditation too. I am so happy to be learning everything in our texts because it truly creates a happier life for those who practice it. I want to be happy, healthy, and whole, and I want everyone else in this entire world to be as well.

Yoga is a great tool for practicing strengthening the inner mind and physical body. I am a big yoga fan and I think you'd be a great teacher since you have all this knowledge about how to develop our inner selves from taking this class. I hope you someday can hold the position of a yoga instructor because you can help others onto the path of integral health. Good luck!

  2. It is great that even though you find it difficult to admit that you do not exercise regularly, you were honest with yourself as well as with your blog readers which actually in turn gives you an internal support system to assist in helping you to move forward with making those plans to get started and either do yoga at home until you feel a sense of personal comfort with your ability to go to a group class or even to just go right out and get started. If you were to post updates on your step by step progress, we could be encouragement for you. Often times if put ourselves out there and hold ourselves accountable, we are more likely to actually do it. The key is really just to take small steps so you do not become overwhelmed. I say this from experience.

Personally I like the Life-as-Practice approach to integral practice to keep the internal movements on a constant watch throughout the day with every experience until it is something that just comes natural to help self to them better help/serve others.

  3. Nychelle,
I too had difficulties in the biological and self-regulation aspects. I thought your idea of Yoga is a great way to kill two birds with one strong. Because I am not having problems in the fitness area but rather in the nutrition area, I did the same. I think by implementing a diet would not only help improve my nutrition but also my self-regulation. Great Blog!
